I have Windows10 v1511 and followed your instructions and installed the original software from the CD that came with my Olympus VN-1000PC (bought in Lidl some years ago now) then the latest 214 update to the software. Then the Vista+AMD update as you say and then the 64bit driver (just clicked on the exe).
