Blackmagic Disk Speed Test is a modern looking application that enables you to test the performance of your disk array by measuring both the writing and reading capabilities.

Blackmagic Disk Speed Test is designed to analyze your disk’s performance under different stress values, going from 1GB to 5GB. The app will detect the video frame size when writing or reading a large file. This way, it can predict how will your disk cope with video related apps.

Blackmagic Disk Speed Test comes with an intuitive interface and allows you to quickly set up the target drive via the Settings drop down menu. The same menu offers you the possibility to adjust the stress level (the size of the temporary file that will be written on the disk). However, the app will automatically delete the temporary files when the test is over.

The next step is to press the Speed Test Start button and then wait for the result. Blackmagic Disk Speed Test allows you to monitor the process in real time within its main window: there are separate gauges for the write and read tasks and you can view how much data has been processed so far.

On the bottom of the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test main window you can view the video formats that can be handled by your disk and the test results (expressed in frames per second, for each file format).

In addition, Blackmagic Disk Speed Test offers you the possibility to save a screenshot that will prove extremely useful if you need to share the data gathered by the application. Since the main window does not indicate the tested disk storage you might need to attach a more descriptive text document, for example.

All in all, Blackmagic Disk Speed Test is a quite easy to use application that can be used to detect your disk’s performance level when dealing with video content.
